Just finished cuts on my 20 gallons of UJSSM with oats, rye, wheat and barley added in.
I put a qt of 79% on cinnamon sticks and now have 4 qts of 63% that I am going to get on some Oak.
I am not sure if I like the mixing of all the grains like I did. The corn had a real sweetness to it, and this mix seems a little harsher. Its definitely different and we will see what some time does for it.
Man I gotta get a feints run done as they are piling up. But a new grandchild will be arriving into this world tonight or tomorrow so that will make things hectic for a while.

Congrats on the new family member, as for the hooch, sometimes it seems harsh at first, but it will mellow and the flavors will come together. Just be patient.

Mix of rain and snow, mostly snow kept me inside today. Had some left over 3/4 copper, copper paint from making bar displays for our booze, a couple of fittings and the shade from an old clip on shop lamp.
We just moved into this house about a year ago and the light fixture that use to hang in this spot was 20 years old and as the wife says Butt ugly. Sprayed the shade then the copper downtube as they did not really match up ( I know, painting copper "copper" seems kinda silly ) but not matching really bothered me. Copper porn of a different style. Figure I have 20 bucks in it and a bit of time.
Never could have bought it for that price.

Got two batches of whiskey fermenting and I'm just about ready too mill my heavy peat smoked barley with some 2 and 6 row barley. I think it time to get my yeast started(wyeast 1728). This will be very hard to let it age

Trying some sweet tea shine.. Sitting out in the sun all day to make the tea soak up real good.
Caught the wife gone so I toasted about a dozen white oak sticks in
Her Oven that I split out of my firewood. She came back and said "something smells good...what is that?". So I guess I'm good.

The one I just did does a pretty good job of lighting John but that was my original thought.
Take a look when you get here, tell me what you think.
Kinda looking at some sconces going up the stairs and replacing with a couple of liebig style spots. Have 6 ft. of 1 inch to use up. And 16 ft. of 3/4. Leaning towards a floor lamp as well. If I go the floor lamp route I will order sheet copper and make the lampshade.
The liebig style will be small LED. These will not be painted rather polished and sealed. And then I will be led into replacing the one I just did because it isn't polished and sealed. With a custom shade. SOH carries power. Just sayin and I know a lot of you can't be denying.

Got my lil sister into brewing a few years ago, shes back from college for the weekend so I got out the still and we ran 20L of some plum wine of hers that was too dry to be drinkable yesterday. Got 13x 250ml jars - going to show her how to cut and dilute in about 10 minutes time.
Will take the feints and add to some dodgy feijoa wine and make a generic fruity brandy to age on oak today.
She'll get my lil commercial job to play with once I've bought my new alembic tower (pot), and finished my homemade reflux so I figure she should know how to use it.
Hoping she'll join up here and start reading too.

I thought it went like this:

"I don't take no crap from anyone . . . else but you,
I wear the pants around here . . . . when I'm done with the laundry,
'Cause I'm a guy you don't wanna fight,
When I say jump you say, "Yeah Right!"
I'm the man of this house . . . 'till you get home."

"What I say goes around here . . . right out the window,
And I don't want to hear a lot of whining . . . so I'll shut up,
The sooner you learn who's boss around here
The sooner you can give me my orders dear,
'Cause I'm head huncho around here . . . but its all in my head!"

"And I can have sex any time . . . that you want,
'Cause I'm a man who has needs . . . but they're not that important,
And don't expect any flowers from me
'Cause if I'm not mistaken you prefer jewlery,
I'm the king of this castle . . . when your not around."

"And I'll drink and watch sports whenever I want . . . to get in trouble,
And I'll come home when I'm good and ready . . . to sleep on the couch,
'Cause a MAN's gotta do what a MAN's gotta do,
And I'm gonna do what you tell me to,
Because I'm top dog around here . . . but I've been nutered!!"

RyePA. It was a toss up between another batch of triple smoke (werkin on filling the barrel) or another batch of brew. Im finding myself drinking more beer as I sit here in a humid 82 degree house, so beer it was. 10 oz of hops in a 10 gal batch. Nah Im not a hophead.

Forgot the 7#stome ground whole wheat flour. Steamer sounds like bonzo goin to town on tje drums.
and gonna add a bunch of wild raspberry canes in a hope that the wild yeast have a massive orgy in the fermentor.

Keep us posted on the orgy. Think I once knew a dancer named raspberry cane. Or maybe I danced with a girl named raspberry at Cain's in Tulsa.
After 25 years of marriage that era of my life has faded a bit

I made other people happy today. At work this morning, picking up relatives at the airport and taking them out to dinner, and now I'm going to go finish setting up the bad ass computer I built for a friend.

Well I had 3 gallons of Blackberry wine just taking up space in the garage. I made it last summer during the season. Drink it,
Pour it out
Or Run it!
I decided to Run it.
It made a lot of Something....Blackberry Shine I guess.
But it is pretty Bitter...maybe I just used to Sweetness of Corn, but this shit ain't very good.
Maybe I should have poured it out?

On another adventure, I put 25 pounds of Corn in the Creek. Mashing it the old way I saw when I was a Pup.

Yeah I ran it in a Pot Still, but I believe I should have Ran it over the Cliff!
Not proofed it yet but even the middle of the run tastes like Fores of corn.
Probably did not do anything too Wrong.....just not my kind of Likker.

Yeah...i know what you mean...
The only suggestion i can come up with, is run it on a reflux column and take some neutral out of it.
That's what i do if my product don't meets my expectations..(they are high..).
I treat it like a feints run..if i have enough of it..i do a spirit run on my VM..

I experimented with using fores to clean grout. Poured it on a test area, let it sit for 10 minutes then cleaned up with one of those little steamer mops. Nothing impressive to report other than the room smells fantastic.

Made steaks on the grill. Fired the charcoal up with fores. Just before I laid the meat on the grill, I threw in a handful of JD chips that were used to age whiskey, rum and brandy. I try not to throw anything away.

Making some mash from triticale with enzymes, yeast will be an M20 Bavarian Wheat from Mangrove Jack's for the first week, then I dry it out with a S. bayanus for another week.
I wonder if I can capture the Hefeweizen-typical clove and banana aroma in a spirit.
