wow, sounds like an amazing weekend guys, and what a setting to have it in, just gorgeous.

I'd love to come next time around but have a young family so will not happen, hopefully I can send in a contribution next time around though.

Jealous..? yep, you bet ya!

Just relaxing in our hotel room rereading the last few pages. What a great trip this has been!! The people that I've met this past four days I now count as friends for life. The Chicago group is heading out this AM, safe journey. that leaves me and brutal as the last men standing. Both of us leaving tomorrow AM in opposite defections. Planning to relax today and check out the town of Pagosa Springs, soak in the hot springs, do a little shopping you know relax. Going out to sheds one last time tonight and thank him and holly for putting up with all of us. This has been a wonderful trip and simple words cannot convey what has happen here. Thanks to all that made this happen.

Windy: It's 1200 miles to Chicago, got a half tank of gas, we're out of smokes, our livers are swolen, and our sunglasses are broke.

Just made it home after a layover in Havasue with an idler bearing that sounds like it's about to explode.
I crossed some pretty desolate country with my fingers crossed and the music up so I couldn't hear it. Whew!

Thanks to HD for making it possible to meet all of these great people.
Another Thanks to all who showed up and made this a very special moment in my life. Extraordinary event but I must confess it feels good to have the house back to ourselves.

I will post up some thoughts on the various samples when I have detoxed a little more.
Being given the S3 HD guitar by Windy is amazing. What a beauty.
Thanks again Windy and thanks Pyewacket.

Just rolling through the last of CO headed east on our way back to Chi, and I must say I am sad to see it go. I too just wanted to add my thanks to HD for without this forum all of the crazy fools I met would still be strangers. Also a huge thanks to everyone I got to meet for their kindness and great fellowship. The biggest thanks has to go to Windy and Jimbo for letting myself and the wife tag along on the trip(the time away from home troubles were sooo needed...) and also to our gracious and humble hosts Woodshed and his wife for everything. I think there is a local liquor store in need of some restocking after we raided it of some of your product though Shed... I can't wait to try that Eagle Mountain whiskey, will post some photos of that when we finally make it home.

Some thoughts on the offerings this weekend.

Midwest Shinners 7 grain is a very nice drink. Dry at the first sip but complexity follows.
Corene's S3 extended cut was great. Give that some more time on the wood and WOW.
robb brought a very balanced oaked Booner's. Easy to sip with hints of the oak and a bit of caramel.
Windy City's Rasputin is THE after dinner whiskey. Chocolate, coffee with a hint of spice and ??? Damn fine Spiced Rum as well.
Flatwoods came across so well I can't find the bottle.
RandyMarsh sent a very fine, and I mean fine two bottles. The Wheat Bourbon was a definite highlight.
MCH dropped his bottle of Calvados on us, the single most unique experience I have ever had in the spirit world.
And it happened in my kitchen  He also impressed with other offerings. Froot Loops. Nice.
I'll get to some more soon, still taking it all in.

Imo the highlight of the event second only to MCH's ancient Clavados.

I also enjoyed spending a bit of time with Corene's extended cut in my glass as well as Windy City's spiced rum...a real treat and not easy to make according to his spice list.
I apologize for not properly understanding Windy's Rasputin. My palate isn't as educated as others yet.
Robb's Booner's was good and MCH's Fruit Loops was hilarious. Like a mouthful of the raw cereal.

I tended to stick with the stuff that the actual attendees brought but did delve a bit into others. I mean, good lord. I'm not that much of a drinker in the first place and I was lucky I sampled as much of 70 friggin' bottles as my liver allowed me but not a single hangover in the bunch.

To a man/woman we obviously know what we're doing!

Thanks for taking the time to post your comments, I was wondering what your thoughts would be. I am hoping that my oak lids have had an effect on the aging of my whiskey since those samples were only 3 months old and already starting to develop some good flavors . They also seemed to be a bit smoother than the comparison jars I have that do not have the oak lids on them. It is great to have some other folks opinions to make adjustments with.

I can not say my appreciation of the S3 better than TP did. Thank you TP for such an eloquent review. You said what I thought but in better words. The friends I made are without equal. The time was unique. The generosity overflowing. The ladies supreme.
As a Novice the main reflection I made was that with 70 bottles of varied recipes.. They ALL could stand with any major distillery. And IMHO beat many! I wouldn't be surprised if some of what I tasted , won't be on national shelves at some point in time. A salute to all.

So I'm sitting here reading this thread, as I have been for days now. And I'm thinking, what does 159 year old ANYTHING taste like!? The reviews of the members drinks have honestly been what I expected.... top notch and then some. That's why I hang around here so much, in hopes to be there one day.... but could someone please give a review of that bottle!!! And MCH, if I'm not being rude by asking, how did you get that bottle!!! Its just an awesome thing to me and I want to know more about it!

Anyways....you guys all kick ass! I lice reading this thread so much!
But what the heck do I know.....I am still learning.
