I will try this one more time.
Hey y'all. Got a neighbor who got me into this. And I was crazy enough to try it out. Started with a 5gal still with thumper and worm. Now have a 25gal SS stock pot with copper top to a Liebig.
Love reading all your builds. I'm a tool and die maker by trade. And figuring out this copper is crazy! But learning!

Welcome to HD, you are at the upper limit for boiler size that we discuss here on HD. One thing you might want to be aware of is currently there is legislation to legalize the hobby here in the USA. In the legislation to be legal they have put a 15.5 gallon limit on boiler size so my recommendation to anyone from the US thinking about building to go with this size or smaller. Good luck and be safe.

Didn't know this. Thanks for the info. I bought this stock pot really cheap. So used it for my project. Beggars can't be choosers...

Missouri is one of the safest states you can be in for this hobby. Hopefully they all will be safe soon.
Cheers!

homedistilling is legal in Missouri. Still illegal federally though. So local law says you can Uncle Sam still has a problem with it.
Missouri Statute 311.055 provides that, “No person at least twenty-one years of age shall be required to obtain a license to manufacture intoxicating liquor, as defined in section 311.020, for personal or family use. The aggregate amount of intoxicating liquor manufactured per household shall not exceed two hundred gallons per calendar year if there are two or more persons over the age of twenty-one years in such household, or one hundred gallons per calendar year if there is only one person over the age of twenty-one years in such household. Any intoxicating liquor manufactured under this section may not be offered for sale”.

Yup... what he said
Missouri is the only state that specifically allows hobby distilling on the state level. There are a handful of other states that do not prohibit it on the state level, but Missouri law was changed to actually allow it. It is still illegal on the federal level, however... keep this in mind!
