whos running what right now?

Little or nothing to do with distillation.

i have my 4th generation ready to run,

approx 11 gallons of water
10 pounds of white cane sugar
5 pounds of unsulfured Molasses

each gen i roll about 2.5 gallons of backset, fortify with some fermax, my yeast is red star's cuvee.

been a nice smooth flavor... run it through my 5 plated flute reduced to 4 plates... last batch came out at 87%

I drink it white or if i want flavor i add a little molasses to it and makes for a nice rummy flavor.

been fighting a cold this weekend so i boiled up some strong ginger tea, i mean real strong added a little muscavado to sweeten it and then in a large shot glass I pour the tea with a slosh of the 87% .... just sit in my cozy old chair and sip slow..... mmmm now thats how good medicine is supposed to taste.
I may just mess with that recipe, tastes so good. i have to make some strong ginger tea for a kombucha recipe i been promising my daughter, so may as well make enough to mix a couple of quarts of ginger/ muscavado liqueur

sounds good for the holiday season, and sick days...

cheers
She was just a moonshiner,
But he loved her Still

yah, been saying that for a while now.. been to two feed stores "looking" for grain but i keep thinking its not the right stuff. Extra ingredients that i'm not sure should be in there. Then there's the enzyme thing.. Seems like a lot of work as well, with little to show in the end... i know its supposed to be a better/higher quality product... wondering if its really worth it if i rarely drink neat..?

its deffo more work, i don't use soda so sipping neat is worth it for me, it;s a huge difference.
mixing with coke? maybe not so much...but if you try it, you may be a convert and save your teeth from the ravages of cola.

not a big soda drinker, if i do its the natural stuff with actual sugar.. don't drink sugar substitute drinks. I like my tea and lemonade... I'm sure your right if i was lucky enough to try some would be all i needed to convert..

You really got a point there HDNB..
The cheap garbadge from the local supermarket, can be mixed with whatever one likes.
It hardly makes a difference and the heads are camuflaged by the stuff one mix in.
Distilling a quality product however, will give one the pleasure of drinking it pure, without wrinkling the nose.
A quality drop, deserves to be enjoyed pure.

I got up this morning and found my cheerios infused birdwatchers which has been ready to run for a week now caught a lacto infection. I'm not sure how long it should be allowed to sit with one so I decided to go ahead and run it before I started working on my porch. It's coming off at 85% and is very nice. The ground up cheerios just before the wash finishes gives the final product a nice flavor that I like to drink neat and I might keep some for that but ultimately this is a stripping run for when I get time to set up the big CM and get the wife her semi annual supply of neutral.

One could imagine a state where shining is legal and the government is losing taxes, therefore moonshining is an illegal practice. It is perfectly safe the problem is greedy governments. Not health or poisonus shine as they claim!

Pick up some special k cereal, or cheerios, sugar and bread yeast and you will actually have a drinkable product when you are finished.

Turbo yeast is not highly regarded on this forum .

And for a good reason Partyboy..
Turbo yeast might give you a higher alcohol yield in a short time, but as nothing is for free in this world it will cost you.
The price is the quality of your endproduct..!
Stick to the tried and true recipes you will find in here.
They are tried hundres of times by experienced distillers and hold true...if followed to the point, they are almost foolproof..

My UJ caught a lacto and sat for at least 6 months that way. It is the most blended run I've done. I will know in 6 months, but it might turn sugar into grain. It's that delicious.

Wish I could #!@$? Up that way more often. :esmile:

Just pitched yeast in a 10 gallon batch of Malted Corn that I stirred up last night.
Hoping for the best, and good conversion this time.
Guess we'll know in a few days.

Man, it is Rollin this morning¡!!!!

Well this batch was intended for neutral but I added the cheerios just to see if I could duplicate a run I did during the summer. It's only been infected for a few days at the most, maybe I should use the trub to start a new batch and see how that goes.

Just about done on the strip. Down to about 25% right now. 11 gallons and it took me just over 2 hours. Does that sound about right to you guys? This is only my second strip run just wondering if I'm on par or not.

Just finished running 12G of 4th gen UJSSM wash. Once I get cuts done after airing out and temp comes down to measure will know what I got.

I'm using a Boka and I was really happy with the 250ml of fores I took off this time. Got most all the bad stuff in the first 250ml. Started at 171.4 and creep-ed upto 172.6 and stayed there.. So I knew I got a nice clean forshot. When it when to 172.7 I started collecting the heads and opened the valve up to run in Pot still mode .. from there I ignored the temp till I was done. The second 1/2 pint jar was starting to smell clean... so will most likely be 3-4 1/2 jars for feints. Right now the 4th jar smells and tastes clean so time will tell if it makes it into the cuts or not.

Looks like a got a nice yield fro this run also. Been wanting to run it for about a month... but weather, propane, and neighbor's (Farm was taking off the crops around my place... so could not make a run in the back as they could drive by and see) put a wrench in things. I won't run if anyone could possibly see things.. Normally over 1000 yards to the closest place someone could be and have tree blocking the still site too.. etc.

Makes me want to punch my still.

I get 2-2.5 hours per 4 or 5 gallons. Man I need to get 240 in here...

Just powered up with 8 gallons of ~25% enzyme strips and 3.5 gallons of same mash. Hope to have enuf to send a jar along with jedfest attendees to age their own way and bring back to next jedfest. Gonna do cuts at jedfest.
Edited to state grains and its sourmash

I did 2 cleaning runs yesterday, and am almost done with a second stripping run of 2nd gen UJSSM. It's my first run in the basement, which is really, really nice because I can get work done on other projects while it's running, and there's a couch. And an XBox. I've got some experiments planned for my 2" column that I'm not talking about yet, but I was able to get a couple of hours of work into it while the first run was going, and now that the next gen is fed and the second strip is started (just tossed the fores) I can settle in and relax and keep an eye on things.
