The Kiwis I have talked to say that the blokes featured in the show got kicked off this site shortly after. Shame that, I thought.

I enjoy the show, though having an arm in a sling and lots of spare time helps. Think some of the presentation and the rough living/ hangover stuff gives it more watchers. That's gotta be an above average job.

Mr. Zimmern has been in our area of WV a few times. Fun guy, a gentleman and the real deal rather than a posturing celebrity .

FMH, I kinda got the same impression of Zimmern. He seems to fit right in no matter the situation. Sometimes he hangs out with some pretty back-woodsy kind of guys who are down to earth and don't tolerate a lot of BS and they seem to be very accepting of him. They look at him a little funny when he starts doing his tasting critique of the food, but that's to be expected and it's kind of funny in a way. The man's not afraid to pick up a rifle and blast bambi - gotta respect him for having no pretense about where the food comes from.

Jack Maxwell seems to have that same kind of rapport with the people he visits. Seems like a party going on in most situations. It's refreshing to see booze presented as an element of celebration in various cultures. Although, sometimes I have concerns for his liver.

I wonder about the state of his liver as well... if you watched the Hungary ep. of season 2 when he meets up with the gypsy's and they make a drink form denatured alcohol   i couldn't believe what i had just watched! :econfused:

The "hangover' section of the show looks like its planned. Whether he has a hangover or not it is a way to show how people in that part of the world deal with it. It's part of it. And it always seems to be gross.

I recorded this weeks show and just watched it today. He was in Scotland and seemed to talk more about gin and vodka than Scotch whisky. The possibility of gin being invented in Scotland was raised. Had a guy making vodka from his own potatoes. He drank a lot of scotch whisky, but only talked about it near the end of the episode. No hangover this week.

Yea. But a sip of 70year old scotch would probably satisfy me enough too. Lol

I recorded it on the DVR and watched it late last night. The episode WAS in New Zealand. There was a segment about a home distiller - had a nice looking flute bubbling away. Jack sampled many of his wares. Was this someone here on the forums?

Might have been InglisHill. I think he got into some trouble a while back for having a second member name and using it to do some lighthearted trolling that got his legs strapped. He hasn't posted since early September. I think I'll watch the episode again and see if I can pick up a name.

As far as I remember, they only did the one segment specifically about home distillation. That doesn't mean that maybe some of the other folks featured weren't also members here.

Yup it was Inglishill. They are talking about it over on nzhomedistiller. Apparently some of the other guys there were supposed to be there also, but their scene was cut out.

His name was Andrew. Nice rig. I laughed at Jacks facial expressions when slamming some of his budda hand and kiwi shine.

I think Jack mentioned his name toward the end of the segment. I think I heard Andrew Inglis. He's a funny guy - wish he were back with us.

What I thought was most interesting about that segment was that Jack seemed to walk in with a moonshine stereotype in mind and Inglis totally blew him away with a flute equipped with lights and sonar - besides being a total hoot.
