Consider it so on my part. I have been making an honest effort to be more thoughtful in my posts and consider this part of it.rockchucker22 wrote:Even though this is a site focused on adult issues let's try and refrain from using foul language. Thanks!

My apologies as well.
I will make a renewed effort to keep it classy. (Well... As classy as I can)

Re: Cursing
Thank you rockchucker. Self improvements are always difficult.
I consider less swearing to be an improvement. It might discourage some people who do not choose to use that language. One admin said he feels the language here is sometimes overly harsh for an open forum, and that stuck with me since. I dont want my participation to discourage other people from getting involved in a discussion.
Its easy to forget that we are not just talking to friends, but are in a public setting.
Edit: spelling

Well I'm not the most genteel of souls at times but some of the language of late has been bordering on vulgar. If you wouldn't say it to your mother or daughter you shouldn't say it here because somebody's mother and daughter is reading it

Swearing as its place. For example, smashing your thumb with a hammer, or some other form of injury. But not every few words in a sentence.

Well I just want you (bleep) to know that vulgar language doesn't ( bleep) make something make any more (bleep) sense than using civil language, but it sure makes you feel better when you mash your finger.

Thanks Rockchucker.
I suspect this is in response to a resent post I saw, and it looks like it was removed because I can't find it now . If this is the case, thank you. Sometimes foul language is appropriate to properly illustrate a point, but most time it is not necessary.
I guess you would need to stab the keyboard pretty hard to warrant cursing to ease the moment

my mom always says that you should have a better command of the english language than having to resort to swearing. Her take is that if you cannot come up with a better adjective than F^&*, you are simply an ignorant boor.
At 83, the woman can dress down the meanest, foulest SOB that may cross her path. I've seen any number of grown men turn red and tuck tail, the whole time she can maintain composure with a smile and a twinkle in her eye.
Recently I was brought to task on what i felt was innocuous innuendo, a joke of a boat sinking and then i see an onslaught of language immediately thereafter... that i rarely, if ever, use. I do concur wholeheartedly that we should conduct ourselves as gentlepersons while out here in public. A little risque language in the right place at the right time can drive home a point, or bring a chuckle when in context. A joke with a few swear words is fine for an adult audience in my books. The joke section is really the only place for it. In general communications one should conduct themselves with some modicum of civility. Or keep their mouth shut. I've let a couple slip myself, i will do better in the future.
A timely post, Rock. thankyouverymuch.

Re: Cursing
I was hoping this thread would start soon. It's hard to take someone (or a group) seriously when every other word is a F*Bomb.
I get it, because I've eaten a few bars of soap in my life. Matter a fack ... I just told my dog to F*O because he keeps licking my hand whenever I 'm not paying attention to him and my wife whapped me across the head.

Re: Cursing
Thanks Rockchucker. Cursing on the Forum only hurts the result we all want. Cursing portrays us in a less educated and intellectual level. We want the general public, politicians and those that have access to public relation outlets to view us in the highest regards as possible. Recently a person published an article that gave us great public market exposure. Now I see a thread that speaks to this is polluted with cursing and sexual innuendo. Very self defeating to say the least. As an effort to not hurt the drive to legalization I personally wish Moderators could scrub these truly unneeded drivel off the site.

With young children at home I have learned that I cannot cuss away from the kids, then turn it off around them. So I have had to force myself to refrain from cussing altogether. I'm sure in the long run I won't be sorry.

Re: Cursing
I agree with both points (both the topics and Brutal). Personally if i stop cussing most of my friends know im pissed or dont like the other party in the conversation. That being said i also think that when speaking (typing) when in earshot (view) of a large assortment of people, friend or foe, it shows respect and consideration to be a little more creative and a little less colorful with ones laungage. I curse like a sailor on fire to my friends but out in the vast world i retain my color and act like a respectful person (ech it nearly kills me). Cheers and to all making and effort keep on keepin.
Keep on keepin

Guilty. Point taken. I THINK I only use profanity when a particular emphasis is called for, but I can see how others would take it differently. Croweater's mother and daughter comment got me. I'm on board.

It appears that dissenting views will be removed. If this wasn't meant to be an open discussion, why wasn't it posted as a locked informational topic. This is the second time my posts have been deleted because they weren't in lockstep with the preferred opinion.

Re: Cursing
ok well i just had a little check to see what you are talking about and it seems that a whole segment of conversation was moved of 6 or 8 posts to which one was yours. there was nothing wrong with your post per say but it was a reaction as were all the others to one lame slightly prudish post that seemed to upset quite a number of members. As you know you can't remove an offending post without removing the responses to it. The choices are to leave stuff like that to turn into a shit fight and spiral outa control or just piss the whole lot off, you are talking about your post saying you agreed with AC's post yeah? Look i don't know or care to much who moved it but as you should be very well aware these things are done from time to time for the betterment of the forum and nothing in that section of conversation serves any meaning full purpose or expressed any view other than opposition to one post some thought was condescending, am i missing something orS-Cackalacky wrote:It appears that dissenting views will be removed. Re: Cursing
Personally I wouldn't curse much whilst typing, but to ask people not to feels a bit bigbrotherly, we are all adults here and if you get offended by a curse here or there I'm afraid you're going to have a hard time in the world we live in.
I gather that I must have missed a particularly bad thread where every comment were blue but I stand by my view that as adults we should be able to hack it, if it is a sign off poor vocabulary or not is a different matter.
I may just be me, I tend to voice my opinion when something does not sit right with me, got enough silly orders in the army to due me a lifetime.
In saying that, I'll of course keep on not cursing, I realize I'm a guest here in Uncle Jesse's house and will abide by the rules.
