This is probably a stupid question that i should know and probably have read at somepoint, ive been distilling for about 5 years but havnt done much in the last three years so ive lost alot of the info i had stored in my head lol
What i want to know is, i dont have a thump keg so if i want to do stripping runs then distill all the product from the stripping runs again for a spirit run should i cut the strips with water or something in my still or put them in there full strength?
It seems like i use to cut them with water some but i cant remember...
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,

Cut it with anything you like. As long as it's less than 40% when it goes in the boiler

It depends what you're making. I seldom cut with water.

Re: Stripping runs to spirit runs
For whiskies and rums I strip down to 20% then combine them till I have enough for a spirit run then cut the low wines to 20% with fresh wash and run. Water seems to filter the liquor and smooth it out at the cost of losing flavor.
Re: Stripping runs to spirit runs
I strip down far enough that it ends up being about 25-30% abv overall. This goes far enough into the tails to retain plenty flavor, and i don't have to proof down for a spirit run. Everybody has their own preference of how, so long as you are below 40% abv on your charge.
