I'm sure there is something better, ( like a radio controlled solenoid relay to a hydraulic ram exercising minute degrees of vertical lift measured in millimeters which registers in % of reflux), but a v-shaped notch in a piece of aluminum plate worked fine.

it really is quite amazing how much a picture can help. thanks all for feedback, I think i will go ahead with a dad300 type build, love the simplicity. Gotta figure out length and width and such still but I've seen a pile of that sort of info around. thanks guys.
