Im wanting to make a lid for a 20 gallon copper pot ive purchased. Pot did not come with lid. I would like to make it out of copper. Does anyone have suggest on what gauge or thickness of copper sheet i should be looking for. Dimension of pot top is 20 inch diameter

I agree. Corene and mashrookie both have good boiler build posted here. Also you have to think about what column is gonna be setting on it. Short pot head could go lighter than a tall 4" marble packed column.firewater69 wrote:I would research some of the build threads.

I'm building a lid for a 8 gallon copper milk can.
I have plans to attach a 3" x 36" stainless CM tower.
I ordered a 12" x 12" sheet of 32# copper (42 mil) just to be sure the weight of the column dosent warp the lid and cause leaks at the tri clamp
20" diameter is pretty big.
I'd get the stoutest copper you can find.
It wont be cheap.
I paid $25 for a 12" x 12" sheet.
I'd expect a 24" x 24" sheet would be in the $100 range
