copper lid

In our view 30 gallons and under is considered hobby size. Do not bring anything larger than this to our site.

I would research some of the build threads.

I agree. Corene and mashrookie both have good boiler build posted here. Also you have to think about what column is gonna be setting on it. Short pot head could go lighter than a tall 4" marble packed column.

And if the pot is old you gonna wanna check the seams for lead.
welcome aboard some of us are ornery old coots but if you do a lot of
reading and don't ask stupid questions you'll be alright most are
big help

I'm building a lid for a 8 gallon copper milk can.
I have plans to attach a 3" x 36" stainless CM tower.
I ordered a 12" x 12" sheet of 32# copper (42 mil) just to be sure the weight of the column dosent warp the lid and cause leaks at the tri clamp
20" diameter is pretty big.
I'd get the stoutest copper you can find.
It wont be cheap.
I paid $25 for a 12" x 12" sheet.
I'd expect a 24" x 24" sheet would be in the $100 range
