Great tasting UJSSM

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.
Pics are VERY welcome, we drool over pretty copper 8)

Great tasting UJSSM

Post by Noreaster »

Thanks to this great site I was able to make this wounderful product. This is 3rd gen UJSSM, Aged three cycles in the mic with charred white oak. I aged it at 60% abv then watered down to 40% with distilled water. Damm it's good! I did this on the side while working on malting some corn for an all grain that I am working on.

Congrats Noreaster on your success. First time I did that I was amazed too. What a great feeling to make something you like. But, it is even better on oak over time. I have had some UJSSM on an oak barrel now for over a year and it is way more complex and getting better by the day.
Good luck on your AG. I have one going as well, but I always have a batch of UJSSM going also just to keep ahead of the game.

I strip ran the first wash to get the backset, then hooked up my doubler for the following runs. Saved the hearts and ran the heads and tails through the next run. I was really just wanting to practice making "cuts" and watching temps as I ran. All this is new to me and I am enjoying learning. I never expected to end up with a result like I did. Its bin years since I drank any amount of whiskey but this as good as anything I remember back then.
