Buying sugar and not looking like its for distilling

Post by BTR Kentucky »

What's the best way to buy sugar without tipping it off to others? My wife bought me 50lbs and had someone say something to her that he knew what she was doing. She played it off as her being a baker

Tellem it's none of their business. It's perfectly legal to buy 50-100, a ton whatever amount of sugar you want. It's not illegal to buy or have sugar. Don't have a guilty conscience. You'll be fine.

But what the heck do I know.....I am still learning.

Buy a small amount each time you go shopping or do the WM thing and get 100lbs at a time but pay cash.

SAMs club min. Bag is 25 lbs..... Nobody seems to pay attention...don't worry about it. 25lbs will get me 3 fermentations of sweet feed @7 to 8 gallons.

Hahaha that's pretty much the scene. I realized that the more sketchy you look the less questions you get asked. And it's easy to do at Walmart. Buy 25lbs sugar, one box of froot loops, and a pack of condoms and go through the line with a big crazy grin at 4am. Cashier won't say shit I promise.

A shitty look on your face 99% guarantees no questions will be asked. And for that 1% a prompt "none of your damn business" will solve that

I used to buy a couple 10 pound bags of sugar, every time I went shopping.
If someone asked, I'd talk about making wine.
Now, I make glucose from cheap grain.

I buy 50# of white and 7# of brown at Sam's and then go over to WallyWorld and do the same . Somebody asks in the line about it and first response is keepin up with coolaid and cookies for 7 grandkids . More agressive folks get met with Robert Dinero : 'YOU talkin to me !!! HUH ! YOU talkin to me ?' End of conversation ..................

I just noticed original post said it was his wife that was "accused". Same could be applied "my husband, miserable ol cuss he is. I married for money. Sure glad he's diabetic. Think this'll be enough?"

I love sarcasm. Works great at throwing people off from many situations.

My uncles are a local dairy that bottles their own milk. For their chocolate milk they buy sugar by the pallet from SAMs club. I just go and buy some from them. Saves me a 60 mile trip east or west to the nearest SAMs.

Wife picked me up another 25lbs with the kiddos and nothing was said. Seems like it may be my best bet. Wife, grocery shopping, sugar, no one is paying attentions. Normally i have the kids when she goes grocery shopping.

I went to a plumbing store for some 2" fittings. The guy at the counter knew right away. "You building a still or something?" What do you even say?
