Built my press, what do you think?

Post by trigger985 »

Hello all! Well after a year off and a move to a warmer more fertile part of the country I am getting back to the game and starting into fruit ciders and brandy. I have access to a pear orchard, 4-5 plumb trees, all the blackberries I can pick, and there are apples everywhere so I am sure that they will be easy to find as well. Going to be a learning curve but I am reading up on here and am ready to dive in. Now to the point of my post. I spent today, with the help of my SOH building a cider press. Will be using a 6ton hyd jack to press and for now the bucket you see in the pics as a basket. Everything was screwed together with #10-3" screws then a center 5/8"x8" support bolts in the four corners with 3/16" steel plate in the top corners for added support. On the top crossmember I have a 13" strip of 3/8" steel for where the jack will go to spread out the load out. Only thing left is to do is wrap the bucket with the heavy duty zap straps to keep it from bowing out. Next up is a apple/fruit grinder. So many projects so little time haha. Have a look at the pics and let me know what you think. Have a gooder.

If they don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
