Hi from Arizona

Post by BamaBoyinAZ »

So I joined the site a while back, as I was trying to farmiliarize myself with distilling after my wife bought me a cheap Chinese Still for my birthday. It's what I thought I wanted, but one batch and I realized how poor of a design it was. Anyway, I am working on building myself a still out of a 15.5 gal keg that was gifted to me by a friend. I have some questions about my build, but will post over on the still build page after I've introduced myself. I have been lurking on here trying to read and retain as much as I can to try and learn what I need to do and don't need to do, instead of having to learn everything the hard way.

Welcome to the forums. It's a big learning curve, if I can help let me know.

Welcome to HD, in my signature page you will also find a link to helpful hints on using the forum. When I started memory overload was a problem and trying to find something I had read earlier was difficult. As mentioned everything to be successful you will find here.

Seems like all my friends my age retire and move to AZ at least for the winter!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I have just been reading like crazy, trying to figure out exactly what I want to build. I'm think I'm getting close to finalizing my build plan.

Welcome. I hope that your handle isn't your real name. Not trying to be paranoid but why make things easier for the law.
Edited to eliminate name

The AZ part, that's not really a question you ask on this forum as we're a bunch of outlaws. :D :)

Gotcha. I mostly just meant a general vicinity, not a specific location.

Lol, ya I know. I've seen that question asked in the past and a response of full name and address from a couple new members. I'm just trying to cut it off at the pass. Not trying to offend.

Not at all. There isn't much anyone can say to offend me. Everyone around here seems pretty agreeable to me. Thanks for the reply to my build question. I really hope there are a few people on here who can really dissect it. Although in doing more reading, I'm already questioning my design plan. Hence why, while there is a huge part of me that is just ready to build and distill, I'm trying to listen to the more rational and "mature" lol side of my brain and take my time and make sure I am asking the right questions before I go crazy.

I thought your research was pretty good, but I kinda think you over thought your build plan. I can go through you plan and let you know what I think if you want me to do so. I kinda come off like a peker head when I do that, so I don't do it to often....

That would be great. Thank you! I tend to over think lots of things. My brain just moves at 90 to nothing all the time, so when I get fixated on something, it tends to run away with thoughts and ideas.

Nice. Me too. And as my wife likes to put it, it feels like Satan has parked his asshole over the city right now.
