First wash & copper pot still almost done

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.
Pics are VERY welcome, we drool over pretty copper 8)

First wash & copper pot still almost done

Post by Mtez44 »

I got so excited I had to post, since you all are the only ones I can share this with!

Anyways I did my first wash 4 days ago. It's the sweetfeed recipe from the forum I found. And holy smokes does it smell amazing. It literally got the blood pumping. The stuff smells good enough to drink as is! I got a nice little hiding spot for them in a closet underneath my stairs.

Also, the still is almost done, just a few hours of soldering left and making a worm. Here is a couple pics, it's a little sloppy but it's my first build. Really my first time working with copper. Thinking I'm gonna be doing my first run this coming weekend! Of course after a sacrificial run.

Also since I'm already posting does anyone use those 5 gallon HDPE buckets from walmart? I found that they don't need an airlock. Or am I wrong in this assumption? They seem to be bubbling away just fine. Sorry about the duplicate pics and being out of order but I couldn't figure out how to remove them and fix it so I'm just going with it before I screw something up.
