Hi from Louisiana
Hey yall! About 4 years ago I got the idea that I was going to start making some hooch. Little did i know!! Ive been reading and reading for years and slowly getting geared up. I have a 12 gallon stainless boiler pot still modified with some comfy additions. Homemade still head with 36" 1x12" leibig. Just want to say thanks to all the contributors and moderators for the wealth of knowledge on this site. I couldnt imagine doing this without you all. As im writing this im sitting in my shop in southwest Louisiana running my vinegar cleaning run on my 5000 watt controller. Man this thing is awesome! Ive printed a handbook of sorts from all of the great posts here. I use it as my bible. Looking forward to all of the challenges and triumphs this hobby allows. Thanks again.

Re: Hi from Louisiana
Welcome! Nothing like sitting, watching and listening to your still run.
I think that's pretty awesome you have printed off your own "stilling Bible" per say. Hopefully you will be active with us and share your experiences, with some pictures of course! Good luck and I also commend you for the research your have done and not rushed into the hobby. I'm only 3 years into in and while I feel I know a lot, I also feel I have way more to learn.

For sure! Yeah i have a big binder with the recipe, mashing, aging and still designs threads seperated by tabs. I just copied and pasted them into Word. It REALLY is my bible. Today i lived up to my name! Got blue vinegar right outta the gate! Its was actually my second vinegar run. The first one from 2 days ago didnt go as planned. Had prob with my electrical. Spent alot of time tonight cleaning as much of the guts of my setup that i could. Had lots of oil/greasy red goo at the bottom of my still head. Scrubbed inside with some baking soda and im currently soaking all my copper. We'll see. I may hv to spend way more time than i planned on cleaning her up. Pretty sure the goo was flux from my very newbie soldering.
