I was gifted a decomissioned stainless 15.5 keg. The old barrel shaped style with a 2" corked bung opening in the side and a 1/2" hole in the end. Was thinking of using it as an aging barrel. Hanging my oak sticks from stainless wire through a natural cork in the side opening and a drain bung in the small opening.
It would be a while to fill. Anyone aging in something this large? Bad idea?
Right now I'm using the 2.5 gal wide mouth glass jars with cork. Would be for rum as thats my main drink. Most likely will never see full, but it was free.
