Rice cooker broke.. Should I use the pot for a 1st ever run?
Thinking of taking the pot and using it and trying to make a very small scale still and making run out of it. From what I read I should be able to do a fairly small run but do you guys think it will even equal enough to be worth trying with? Figure it would make a decent learning /trial experience as to I wont have a lot of cash tied up in it.

Materials?
Size?
Heat capacity & control?
Probably better off building a still with a different boiler. But it is impossible to tell from your sketchy inputs. Not enough info.

I would be building the rest of the still just this as a base to build off of.

I've never seen a rice cooker made from cooper or stainless before... I'd say no. Find another boiler. Much better boiler options out there on the smaller scale, for little to nothing! Just make sure it's copper or stainless steel! Think about how distilling/fermenting works. If you have a 5% mash that means you'll only pull 5% of the total volume from the boiler. 5% return from a small one gallon boiler ain't much. Just saying. Think about properly sizing to YOUR needs before you invest too much time and money skating by on the cheap cheap. Do it right. Do it once and reap the benefits from this glorious hobby. On my 15 gallon boiler I typically keep a quart to a half gallon of hearts (very picky on what I keep as hearts ) on an all mash run (more if feints are added or if doing an all feints run) but typically one-two jars is my take. Also keep in mind you do not fill the boiler all the way up. 15 gallon boiler should be filled to about 12 gallons to avoid distilling problems.

Good luck.
