Hi all,
New to distilling, started with one of those chinese 5 gallon stainless sets to see if I would like it (and now I'm hooked), graduating to a 6 gallon copper pot/thumper/worm. Why 6 gallons? Most of the mash recipes and my fermeneters hold 5 gallons, and I can't fill my 5 gallon still up!

Welcome!
Make sure you clean that new still properly ( water run, vinegar and water, and sacrificial alcohol runs). I ended up settling on an 8 gallon pot for similar reasons. I can ferment six gallon batches, and generally leave enough headroom to avoid puking. A few more gallons wouldn't hurt though! Nobody ever says their still is too big.
