When I was a boy, I prayed for a bicycle. I soon learned G~d doesn't work like this so I stole a bike and prayed for forgiveness.

WTF that has to be some kind of joke. Lol I did a double take I thought it was a home brewing setup a first. I still think it's a fake haha :
Re: Just Post a Pick of a Rig To NOT Make
Yes I was mashing and just thought I'd play around while waiting in the shop...

Brings to mind the YouTube guy with the plastic bag boiler in a cardboard box.

Not this one I presume: Personally I see no problems with this setup.jb-texshine wrote:Need to transfer the pic of the one made out of a glass coffee pot and Ice maker tubing with the cork for a lid...

Kareltje you have been here long enough to know the rules here on the materials allowed to be discussed. You can have any opinion you like but you will follow the forum rules on what can be advocated here, comments like the one you posted are verging on trolling and you are skating on thin ice.

You are right about these parts.cob wrote:the agglomerated cork, and the plastic tubing takeoff are two problems.Kareltje wrote: Personally I see no problems with this setup.
I saw a recent picture of it with copper in stead of cork, but that might have been photoshopped.
And of course one should make the copper for the takeoff a few cm longer and/or put the collecting glass a bit closer.
Great advantage is the absence of an open fire! And I like the balance in the condenser.
@croweater: point taken.
In view of the absurd opening post I did not take this thread really serious.

Took me a minute to realize what I was looking at. Thought it was some pretty insulation until I realized it was all beer cans.

The old M*A*S*H still has been a source of amusement since I started distilling. They never mash anything, just put 1/2 a cup of grain in a small boiler and voila! endless supply of vodka.

They apparently also weren't too good at making cuts. I distinctly remember someone once commenting that it tasted/smelled like they filtered it through Hawkeye's dirty socks. Sounds like tails to me.
And I believe they made gin, not vodka. Martinis were made from gin back then. I guess they found some juniper growing in Korea.

I copied my condenser from this. It's a bit bigger (basically, longer) and was first used on a 6 litre stainless pot.
Later on a 20 litre stock pot, it is just a little undersized.
No corks. No flexible alcohol delivery tubes.
Works well on the wok burner of the natural gas grill.

Re: Just Post a Pick of a Rig To NOT Make
I did like the condenser! Basically all I did like. Well, I like the idea also. Maybe if it was natural cork, and in a water bath to heat it and with a copper take off it would be kinda handy. Kinda. Still way too small though. The Baker wrote:Kareltje wrote:Not this one I presume: Personally I see no problems with this setup.jb-texshine wrote:Need to transfer the pic of the one made out of a glass coffee pot and Ice maker tubing with the cork for a lid...
