Keg Type M removal of valve

I just though i would share a how to remove the Type M fitting as i couldn't find it on here.
I took the pictures after removal unfortunately, but anyway - here it is.

remove the rubber ring with a screwdriver.
This will also release the pressure inside.

There will be a spring in here but look past that to the centre column. Note the holes in it.
Use these holes to get a nail punch (or maybe a sturdy screwdriver) at an angle an hit with a hammer. The idea is to make it spin CLOCKWISE. It will then drop into the keg and is free.

You can then use the hole on the outer/larger ring on the main bulk of the valve to make that spin ANTI-CLOCKWISE. Then everything is free and just wiggle it out.

not sure what ya done but you photos didn't load. Probably the safest way to release the pressure that I know is put a socket on the spear and use something like a crowbar or tyre leaver to depress it, face full of stale beer is not cool. I remove the seal and circlip and turn the spear out of the cradle then as ya say belt a screwdriver in that hole to loosen and unscrew that spear cradle. If ya don't mangle the seal to much you can re-seal with it or solder a disc in it to re-seal for aging in

You don't have that problem if you lay the keg on its side. You can then sit on the keg while degassing it.

Yea this type does not have a circlip. It is different to others described on here.

This is not the coopers and West End kegs made in Belgium? Sure looks like em.

OK yeah ya got it but if ya wanted to remove the spear from the cradle there is a circlip under seal just another way to go about it
