Interesting Morning

Post by brewbob »

So my wonderful wife woke up this morning and as usual went to make a cup of coffee. Now she's attracted to all those fancy shiny kitchen gadgets and replaced my Bunn with a Keurig a while back. Its ok but comes with more rules to remember like only run distilled water in it to reduce scale and whatnot.

I store white dog in water jugs for about a year or so then cut it to drinking proof and bottle. I'm sure your starting to figure out the madness that I'm about to explain. Yesterday I grabbed a jug from 10-2016 thinking it's time to sample, it was good so I had a few drinks and left it inside on top of the fridge so it could be bottled today.

Fast forward back to this morning. I wake up and walk out for a fresh cup of coffee, stand there in a daze waiting for my cup to finish, add a little cream and take a sip. First thing I thought was that didn't taste right...another sip. Second sip made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, couldn't put my finger on what was wrong with it. I then looked over at my wife and asked "your coffee taste different?" She said "I don't know, haven't tried it" then proceeded to take a big sip, that didn't go well. She spit it out all over the table and said it's time to clean the coffee pot. At this time she grabs the fancy cleaning stuff for that fancy coffee pot and pours it in. I went to grab a empty water jug to top off the reservoir and noticed one of my jugs sitting with the recyclables, oh no. Grabbed the jug, pointed to the magic marker with the date and asked if she put that in the Keurig.

Ummm, yeah, why?

I just sat down and took another sip of my liquor coffee, then told her she just made coffee with triple distilled 65% whiskey and that I appericate her enthusiasm but it's a little early to start drinking.

HDPE plastic. I know that's a huge debate. I don't recommend it but I do it. Call me dumb.

High ABV spirits stored in a plastic jug for a year? No wonder the coffee tasted like shit.

It's not a huge debate here, there will be no discussion of using plastics for any spirits storage.

Funny, but not really, having jugs of 65% sitting around not clearly labeled is just wrong. Just my 2 cents

When your wife is 4'10" and you place a jug labelled with permanent maker on top of the fridge with the rest of the liquor it's not considered "laying around" to me. She admitted she had a hard time getting it down and thought it was weird that it was up there, that was part of the humor.

There was no discussion, just an honest answer about my actions based on scientific fact. Don't worry, I won't say plastic again.

At least thats what i read.

Sorry but i have noticed that even though some women are book smart (mine is top tier) some can still be "stupid". (NOT AN INSULT)

My wife is the smartest / stupid person i know and she agrees!

She has insane intelligence but absolutely dismal Street smarts/ "ATTENTIVENESS ".

She also loves to ask me questions that she already knows there is no answer to.

The only reason for that as far as i can attain is that she was extremely sheltered and has very little "experience" or common sense- (as we see it )- in life.

There are tons of times where my wife will ask me questions or inquire about things and then backpedal immediately after just thinking it through for a few moments. Mostly innocent things but it makes me wonder sometimes.

I'm definitely not knocking women at all but some of them just don't "pay attention" to ANYTHING that i /we might be adament about.

For example... running the vehicle out of fuel.

Yeah, cause women have never said that about men before

Speak for your own wife, if you feel so compelled. I ain't putting my money on the line that says there are more stupid women then men, though.

I'm guessing she has allot she could say as well, but is smarter than you and therefore keeps it to herself.

I would make this wager though, I bet way more men than women have said "wait, watch this, hold my beer..."

It did! I'm worried about the temp that the coffee maker hits to steam water so quick though  Coffee maker was drunk for a day also, low water sensor didnt work, kept flashing add more water. This morning it works fine.

While researching to see if this Keurig was a goner I discovered I'm not the first to do this. Keurig is actually working on a model for alcohol infusions! I'd assume they will lower the temp and isolate the steampath a little better for safety.

Yup, once I realized what happened it was emptied out and went outside to flush.

My wife is very intelligent, she is a medical specialist with 2 doctorates acquired by her early 30s. This was just lack of sleep.
