Hi All,
New to the list but not new to the craft. About 15 years in and always improving. When I started, really didn't know there was this much room for improvement, of course didn't know much of the craft back then either. A telecommunications engineer by trade, one of my cohorts drew me into distilling and really enjoyed learning and creating. I'm in the South East US region of the third rock. There was not any small scale commercial equipment for purchase back when we started so had to build most equipment in house. Started with keg boilers. Knowing what I know now, I'd probably still take the same path of building it from scratch.
I run 13 gallon stainless boiler with electric heater element, 3 in copper column with vapor control and stainless shotgun product condenser. Mostly used for GNS vodka. I'd like to move more into the whiskey and bourbon, aged spirits. Still doing a bit of research before jumping off the cliff.
I really enjoy reading this site, you guys are a great collection of really smart folks, sharing knowledge civilizes the beast and I'm excited to be apart of this community.
Thanks.
Coonass from down the bayou!
