Way I see it good songs are still writ and always were, empathy it what makes them great. If the consumer has empathy for greed gluttony and gain then sadly that is what will get airplay. It seems to me the best writers of pain first bled, Clapton's song of loss could only be wrote so honestly by a soul tortured by loss and songs of hope of love by one who's faith was tested

I'm still trying to figure out how to input video images instead of just the links. Here's another try. DAC gets typecast for s lot of reasons, most probably deserved. But in terms of "pure country" this is near the top of my list.

That song includes Chuck Leavell on keyboards. Also known at "The Other Rolling Stone". We grew up in the same hometown and his first band as teenagers would play for teen parties at the YMCA. We "went" to the same Church and sometimes I'd ditch and go to his house just to watch him practice.
He got better and his solo kicks in at about 5:00.

I've mentioned Jerry Lee Lewis, he's a classic.
Was a real shame to read of Malcolm Young's death' end of an era. AC/DC and the rolling stones although very different were really the only two rock and roll bands left so its kind of the end of a genre.

My step-dad got me hooked on Flatt and Scruggs before I was out of the sixth grade. Been into rock and roll forever, but always perk up when somebody's playing a 5-string banjo, especially Bela Fleck.

You guys ever listen to Dead South? In Bellevue, WA they have a Bluegrass Festival that tends to be really good. Some of the stuff is even newer. It's pretty cool to see the young guys and girls enjoying and creating bluegrass music.
