Hello from the great state of Georgia

Post by Ananimity »

Greetings.
I just completed a vinegar run last night. Sacrificial run should be able to be ran in a few day. Wish me luck!

Dude, your introduction sucks ! Several Georgians have joined lately with fairly good intros. Dont let the trend end here. Got anything else to add? It is hard to associate with someone who has nothing to say.
Welcome to the site. Stay safe.

Yeah, Ananimity, kick it up a bit  !
What's your poison? What kind of still do you have? What's your favorite color? Blood type?

Glad to see you're doing a proper clean on your still so you'll be in business soon. Seriously, what'cha making?

My original 2 post were detailed. I acknowledge many things I’ve learned while ready post from this site. I went into detail on many things. They kept rejecting them. Stated for reasons that my post never mentioned. So I gave up on the long intros and went with the plain “hello” they accepted it. So my apologies to all the Georgia Boys out there for not continuing the great and well worded introductions.

I’m starting out with a 8 gallon purchased pot stil/thumper/condenser combo. I tend to jump into new hobbies full throttle and lose interest within a few months. Only to have spent all that $ and it to end up in the basement collecting dust. So this time I’ve decided to to start small and slow.
I’m from Georgia. You should know my favorite colors. Lol
I’ve drank rum for so many years it’s got to the point I don’t enjoy it much lately, I’m now on a whiskey kick. That being said, my 1st wash is a molasses rum. My intent is to follow pogi’s procesure minus the yeast bomb (didn’t have the ingredients at the start, do now)

I had a hell of a time keeping the condenser cool on the vinegar run. I’m expecting it won’t be as bad on a spirit run.

I started the rum wash last Friday night, 1.076sg. Popped the top on the fermenter last night to check it. Down to 1.004 after 6 days (5gallons) I’m hoping the plain sugar wash I made for sacrificial run will be done Saturday so I can run the rum Sunday.

There ya go! Thats what we are looking for. Good luck with your rum. Plenty of good rum makers here so if you need something just ask. Go slow. Dont expect initial success but dont NOT expect it. Make good cuts and stay safe.
Enjoy the craft.

Get yourself a barrel. Small or otherwise. Make some whiskey while you're "into" the hobby and toss it into the barrel.
Six months after you've lost interest in the hobby you'll have a nice aged drink!
