$5 Parrot
Well this is the "first hands on copper" since I built my column and 2nd condensing coil a few years ago & it felt good working with copper again.
After scrounging up $10 worth of copper at the scrap yard, I used about 1/2 of it and am fairly pleased with the results. I cleaned it well with 400 grit sand paper, ketchup, steel wool, 50/50 vinegar & water and soaked it in some old fores........... so I'm itchin' to use it on my next run.
Just thought I'd share my latest undertaking

Re: $5 Parrot
Nice job, Davel.
Good-looking, and the price was right.
Ain't it fun working with copper?

Nice big base and wide take off makes that very distinctive. Can't beat the price neither!
Thumbs up, pal

... I realized the second photo I posted actually wasn't the finished parrot......... it didn't have a beak.
Here's the finished parrot beak on & shined up a little...

UPDATE >>>> Plan B
Try as I might I couldn't get the sheet copper to seal to the bottom of the upright pipe, so I went to plan B. Got a cap, cut a slot in the side for the feed tube and soldered it on. Mounted the whole thing to a block of walnut I had kickin' around and away she goes.
In conjunction with taste & smell I was really happy with the experience of using it
