Gin and Tonic. Two shots of good "sapphire style" London Dry Gin, two shots of bitter lemon, 3-4 ice cubes, topped off to 4ozs tonic. Yummy! Kiwi Bruce

That might be sacrilege mixing Kirsch and sprite! You know how much work it is to make a tiny bit of that stuff?! There's a reason Kirsch glasses are tiny little thumbalina glasses. Its a free world tho, haha.

Would mixing limoncello with sprite be considered sacrilege? made a 750ml batch less then a week ago and its almost gone. taste so good mixed with lemonade! planing on making two more batches today so i can age some... maybe. (wifey's new favorite drink)

Nope, I'm not familiar with Kirsch or the process... but I know I love it. More research it is!

This is why the largest suppliers of kirsch that is affordable are huge companies e.g. Maraska in Croatia or Luxardo in Italy.
The still is not a liar. Mash and ferment quality is 99.9% of your performance.

I love it too, the cherry forward and almond flavor from the pits are a beautiful combination. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIYoGrq ... e=youtu.be&" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

Its takes me 29 lbs of cherries to make a bottle. Thats a mountain of cherries and hours of standing on a ladder.

Too many to list, I usually enjoy my spirits straight, at room temperature. I hosted a bbq over the weekend and most of the ladies enjoyed my hill billy margarita.

1 1/2 shots of corn moonshine 50% abv
3/4 shot gran marnier
1/2 shot cointreau
3 shots of 2 lime to one lemon mix, diluted with water and sweetened with agave nectar(margarita mix)

shake over ice and serve in a martini glass.

UJSSM in a proper whiskey sour.

That is: a couple spoons of sugar, maybe 50mL of fresh-squeezed lemon juice, an egg-white, and around 100mL of UJSSM. Shake it to hell in a pint mason jar and pour over ice. Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry. You can do it without the egg-white, but you'll be missing out on the texture and gravitas that the egg adds.

For best result, before drinking put on your best vintage suit, most stylish tie, freshly-polished leather-soled shoes, and have a fedora nearby. You wouldn't, of course, wear a fedora indoors, but having one within arm's reach makes any cocktail that much more serious. If you're outdoors, you should wear the fedora unless there are ladies present, in which case you should remove your hat gallantly.

Disclaimer: I own a total of two suits and zero fedoras. I do have a pair of leather-soled shoes, but only wear them, like the suits, when I really have to.

But upon discovering what an egg-white does to a cocktail, particularly a whiskey sour, it suddenly made me appreciate the idea of dressing up for something really special.

My buddy who I distill with has four chickens, and the other day we made whiskey sours with the freshest eggs you can get. It made me *wish* I was wearing a suit and had a fedora at hand ...

Obligatory:

That man knows how to muddle.

The biggest problem with a fedora is what to do with it while indoors. I usually put mine on my knee, because if I don't keep it with me at all times, I'll go home without it. Somehow it's lasted almost 15 years now.

PONCHA.jpg

Hi from Madeira,
Born in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, lived for 33 years in South Africa, and now 7 years in Madeira, Portugal.
A great mixed drink here is Poncha.
The true Madeira Poncha features sugar cane “aguardente” (firewater similar to white rum), lemon and bee’s honey, even though nowadays there are several variants made from fruits such as passion fruit that substitute the lemon. The secret is to mix all the ingredients with a “mexilote”, a typical stick with a phallic form.

Curiously, Poncha’s origins are far, far away from Madeira. In fact, some researches prove that poncha is a derivation of an Indian drink made from arrack – either rice or coconut – lemon juice, sugar, herbal tea, water and spices. The British, who used to visit often Madeira, brought this drink to the Portuguese archipelago during the 18th century. Then, Madeira inhabitants adapt the drink to local ingredients and Poncha became a popular beverage during the 19th century throughout the island.

At present, Poncha’s fame crossed the archipelago boundaries and is one of the most renowned products from Madeira, along with the wine and embroidery.

Here is the recipe which I enjoy using my own distilled spirit from Wine lees.

INGREDIENTS
3 tsp. of bee honey
250cc of sugar cane “aguardente” (About 1 cup)
2 lemons or juice of 1 lemon and 1 orange.

INSTRUCTIONS
Mix well the honey and the aguardente with a “mexilote” (or use a shaker).
Add the juice of the two lemons, mix once again and serve on shot glass, decorated with a slice of lemon peel.

Of course for a party you can scale up the ingredients to fill a jug.

Cheers. Enjoy

Hey Jimbo,
Those shaped ones are only for randy tourists visiting the Island. We just use plain wood ones which are the ones usually used everywhere.

While I wouldn't call it my favorite mixed drink it is certainly a nice one on a hot day.

Old-fashioned glass:
1.5oz Southern Comfort
Top up with Cranberry Juice
and a large splash of lime juice

FYI, favorite mixed drink is whiskey and ginger, preferably irish whiskey

Last year I discovered eggnog for the first time. It's just not a thing where I'm from. Eggnog with Hennessey cognac. I felt like a kid with candy again. I couldn't believe how good it was.

Now in the summer I'm loving gin and tonics, and vodka 7's (/sprite).

Best drink I've ever ordered out was on a whim... it was called Rusty Nail. Still not sure what that was, but it was damn good.

The Rusty Nail,
Ingredients:
1 1/2 ounces Scotch whisky or some good corn or UJSSM * well aged on oak.
1 ounce Drambuie
1 slice lemon

Drambuie...(thanks to Dnderhead from way back when)
Ingredients :
750 ml of your best Scotch whisky or some good corn or UJSSM * well aged on oak.
1 1/2 cups mild honey
2 teaspoons chopped dried angelica root
1/4 teaspoon fennel seed
1 slice lemon, zest of, 4 inches

Combine all ingredients in a tightly covered container.
Shake several times for the first 24 hours.
After 24 hours, remove lemon zest.
Let stand for 2 weeks in the fridge, shaking gently every other day.
Strain through a sieve to remove the angelica and fennel seeds.
Keep in the fridge for as long as you can (but you can start driving nails now!)...the longer you can keep it the better it will be, up to 6 months
Pour clear liquid into carafe for drinking enjoyment.
Cloudy dregs may be saved for cooking.
Getting hung up all day on smiles
