Hi I have a 1M length of 54mm copper tube that I am going to use for the pot still column using Samohons design as a reference. be heating with lpg. The libig will be slightly different t the original design as I am going for 28mm over 22mmfor the vapour path. I only have a 22L stock pot with a domed bowl on top probably going to At some point in the future I would like to go down the reflux route without having to re-buy all the copper.
1. I could just run the pot still with a 1M colum then desolder the lyn arm at a later date
2. Same as above, but use flour paste at the top of the column instead of solder.
3. Cut the tube at 500mm as per the instructions the re-join with a union later on.
I have read that the column height is only necessary for convenience of collection tube height. What are the pros and cons of running a longer tube length.
pot still column length vs reuse as reflux
