Boiler rebuild and new pot head

Post by Expat »

I've been working steadily on rebuilding my boiler, controller and subsequently my pot head condenser needed to be upgraded.

Pot head is 48" of 3/4" over 1/2". Reducing above the sight sight glass, 3" to 2", dropping from 2" to 1" to 3/4" above the riser. Wire wrapped inaode the condenser with a turbulator inside.

Plenty enough to knock down 5500 watts efficiently. During the cleaning run I was able to stabilize knocking down water steam, input was city water @68f, condensed steam @88f and output water @200f. The extra length is really doing its job well.

Completed setup finishing up the cleaning.

Continuing

Casters, 2" drain port reduced to 3/4" pre valve. Used the original sankey top port.

Updated controller, 220v 30a, SSR and pot. Twist locks are my friend.

Next will be the rebuild of my column to 3".

Love the site-glass in there like that, I'm about to go to 3" myself on the keg pot. 4" for the barrel.

Now is the time for all great men and women to make moonshine !

Definitely helps to see the passive reflux and catch any puking before it rises.

Small upgrade to my boiler.

Decided to add a secondary port to my drain outlet so that I can pump backset from the boiler. Much easier than trying to disconnect the pipe from a hot boiler. :D

From the underside.

From the top, connected to my floor drain pipe.
