Hi all, been away for a bit with work and family commitments
Hi Guys
Good to see many familiar names still around.
I have Been tied down with work and family commitments, but I have been feeling the bug to tinker and get back into home brewing again.
Anyway hope to contribute where I can..
now time to do more catching up on where and what everyone is up to..
cheers

Re: Hi all, been away for a bit with work and family commitm
Thanks for the warm welcome back..
First up, with my work commitments there was very little time to do any runs..
The few I did where only pot runs using a corn/malted barley mash.
I started a plum mash, to make Serbian Sljivovica but I got cought up at a regional job and by the time i got back ended up with 400L of Plum cider Vinegar
The column still i made was a prototype, it was made because I was told it is impossible to make a 2" plate column, it will never work etc..
I got it to work for 2 runs until a friend of mine broke the glass tube, I still have the plates etc..
RESULT: I found there is no need to make a plate column when you mostly use grain, pot stills are a proven simpler method.
My design focus has been energy and water saving.
However I have restarted on a copper pot still project I shelved a while back.
And just the other day driving down the road, I picked up what I believe is a Quartz tube 100mm Dia and 1200 long, it also had a gas control box containing pizzo igniter, pilot light and emergency gas shut off.
It was in one of those volcano space heaters.
I will start a new thread for this over the next week.
