Hello everyone
I've been interested in distillation for years.
My Coworker from the South has been making his own for years and recommend this forum.
I've been on several mailing lists and got a notification about a sale and couldn't say no.
Somewhere in transit is a beautiful copper onion head still!
I'll read much and post very little, but thank you all for this forum and the information you have generously shared.

Alembic stills are great for making brandy and full flavored spirits. What do you plan to make?
Do you have experience making wine? If not, I suggest reading Cranky’s thread about all the “fruity goodness”. Here’s a quick link to it: viewtopic.php?f=94&t=48881
Have fun. Be safe. Be responsible. And be discrete.

Plans are to make basic sugar shine at 140-150 proof and use most of it in tintures.
We'll also try diluting to 80 proof, carbon filtering and flavoring to make whiskey, whisky, and gin like beverages.
My friend makes a super tasty drink called Apple Pie.
No plans for brandy, or wine.
I expect we will read a lot before our first try, this may take a minute.

My still arrived late yesterday as I was leaving for work.
Its a real beauty, my wife was trying to figure out where it will be best displayed in our house.
My buddy/mentor got in on the same sale and bought an identical model and it arrived yesterday too.
That will be a step up for him, he has been using a home built 3gal for the last couple years.
Good news; I've been reading a lot.
Bad news; The more I read, the less I know. Thought I knew some thing............nope.
