I finally got this all together and ran it last night. Everything went great.
I had the pot already built a few years ago when I ran it as a column reflux still, but wanted to try some whiskey making so I added the thumper and added a few connections.
Pot has an 8" TC on the top for filling an cleaning and put a 3" TC on that. Reduces to a 2" copper pipe that goes down in the thumper. Thumper goes 2" to 1.5 TC to condenser.
I put 12 gallons of mash in the boiler and 3 gallons of mash in the thumper. Ran it hot - 5500w until I saw it start to bubble/puke in the glass, turned down to 90% until I saw drips then set it as 50% until I was done.
Mash was 61F and it took 66 mins to get the first drip. Ran off 3 total gallons in just over 3 hours. I was way down into the tails - at 40% proof for the last jar.
