I came across a new to me issue doing a final spirit run where the heads and hearts were all perfectly clear, but when I switched to tails below 50% ABV and cranked up the power, I started getting a bluish green tint to the distillate. There appears to be little particles floating in the tails. This is on a spirit run that was made from 100% malted barley. The only additive I used was 5.2 PH stabilizer in the mash.
I had cleaned the still with both vinegar and citric acid prior to my first use since I hadn't used the still in several years. Since the initial cleaning I've done 4 wash runs and this is now my second spirit run and in between each run I ran hot water and steam through everything. All of those runs were done over a month's time so it hasn't been that long since the first cleaning.
So my question is does that indicate there are copper salts in my final spirit? Is it safe or do I have to distill it again? I really hate to run it through the still again because I don't want to lose any flavor, but of course safety is a more important issue.
I kind of remember seeing a topic like this and I once had an issue where my wash run developed blue particles after it sat for months, but this is a little different than that and I can't find any of the other topics discussing this.
Thanks for the help
