New to this my 1st run was to yeasty tasting, and my 2d was much better but had a taste I didn't care for, so I was gonna run them both with a old bottle of nasty rock gut Tin Cup to strip out the etoh.
But what do I do with the stripping?
My next run will be a sugar wash. So I'm thinking after the sugar wash is done and the pot has cooled add the stuff, I want to strip the etoh out of so it will be diluted to less then 40%. or should I just dilute it with water ? opinions advice?
After stripping the 1st couple batches out, what do i do with that etoh?
Blend it in to my sugar wash?
Save it for my next run and add it to the cook pot? and run it as part of the next wash or mash slow?

Try reading through the vast amount of useful information available to you here. Start with the links at the bottom of this page. Good luck.

🎱 The struggle is real and this rabbit hole just got interesting.

Patriot,
Your questions are a bit confusing, but I believe you simply don’t know what to do. You said you’ve run the still twice, and I assume that both of those runs were post-cleaning, otherwise, it would be sacrificial.
With that said, you could use the low wines from these runs as a separate spirit run. Or, you could add them back to the sugar wash you’ve got coming up next. That would make it a “1-1/2” run, meaning you’ve combined the low wines from one strip (or two strips as you’ve accumulated) back to another strip/spirit run. This will carry forward more of the flavors into the spirit. You would then make cuts on this (3rd) run.
And like 8-ball suggested, read up on Kiwistiller’s Guide to Cuts so you know how to make cuts. That is the best way to produce your own “top shelf” spirits. There is no “spoon fed” path to this end...you’ve got to put forth the effort.
As for what to do with your rancid “Tin cup”....give it to the freeloaders.

Re: What to do with stripping run etoh
Thank you I have been reading the required reading, and sorry if my question was confusing.
I have done my vinegar run, sacrificial run and 2 runs the 1st of which was yeasty tasting. The 2d was ok but there was something in it I didn't care, 2d run had no bite it was smooth but there was a smell like faint yeast that I did not care for.
LOL the tin cup well, if you ever tried it you know its garbage, just figured id try to reclaim the alcohol out of it. Even my friends won't drink it.
But I will keep reading on cutting
thanks for the replys

.
For sure, you have a backlog of reading to do. Making hooch you do not care for is counterproductive.
With so many variables that could have gone sideways, help yourself to the uncle jessess simple sourmash method thread to get you on the right track. This will make you a corn whiskey with a minimum process and a step up from sugar shine. Strip three or four generations that have included souring and then apply your new learning to a spirit run. I think you'll like the results.
Good luck.

Do you understand what stripping runs are?
They are not meant for drinking. Several stripping runs are combined and are put back into the still for the spirit run. The spirit run is when choose your cut for drinking.

Saltbush, Thank you I think you may be correct. As I am new to this and don't have the experience tuned taste and smell needed yet for this hobby. I will keep trying future runs with that in mind.
