Forgot to add yeast until the next day!!

Sugar, and all about sugar washes. Where the primary ingredient is sugar, and other things are just used as nutrients.

Forgot to add yeast until the next day!!

Post by Lukehghs »

Hi all, I made a silly mistake, I made a sugar wash recipe yesterday that I got from here, the one with tomatoe paste, lemon juice and cane sugar. I sanitised everything real good and mixed everything up, put the lid on and air lock and just realised 24 hours later that I forgot to put the yeast in.
Has anyone else done this? And will it be ok still? TIA

It'll be fine. You may have to warm it back up to the yeasts fermenting temp.

Thanks mate I’ll turn the heat pad on. It started bubbling slowly about ten minutes after I added the yeast 👍

Ha! Never.

I’ve pitched bad yeast that wasn’t viable ( who knew?), but forgetting to pitch it all together...priceless!

Still...brewing is reasonably tolerant to human error. I bet you won’t forget to pitch yeast in the future.

Just don’t “drink & drive” your still.

I pitched some bad yeast. Am I good to add some active yeast to the same wash? Yeasty!

I wouldn't sweat it. My wife regularly complains that I forget to do stuff I promised to do, like fix the toilet, take out the trash, trim the hedges, blah, blah blah. Then she tells me I have CRS: Can't remember shit. Funny, I don't seem to have a problem remembering the proper temp to dough-in malted grains or the PPG finely-ground corn produces.
