Whereabouts is it ?
You mention flour paste , so is it outside the boiler?

imo no matter how much tape you put on the vapor will get to it. Is the lid stainless?, column stainless?, Can you solder it on maybe?. Pics would help.

Agree with googe . Could you buy a 1” or what ever stainless bush from either a plumbing supply or Machine shop ?
