Started out pretty good cutting off the top chime of the keg, then midway I screwed up and went to deep with the cutting wheel and instead of just cutting the chime also cut the keg. I know the idea way to fix this is welding but don't have one and not spending the money on a foolish mistake.
Would it be best to first pack it with copper then use either one if both are ok?
Thanks
I guess I could solder it ??, but I also have:
and was wondering if this is an approved material that I can use in building a new boiler? One Big FOOKING Mistake

Maybe try to plug it with flour paste? It's my #1 solution to leaks, #2 is ptfe tape and lots of it.

If welding it is not a realistic option then I would hammer in a piece of copper wire thick enough to plug the gap and either use lead free silver bearing plumbing solder or silver braze it with food service 45% AG wire (I'd prefer the brazing approach but you need an oxy-fuel torch to do it well).
Well, if it were mine I'd weld it because I have that capability at home.
Edit: I would not use 'regular' bronze rod, sil-phos 15% AG at minimum but as noted above, food service 45% AG is the go for me.

Re: One Big FOOKING Mistake
maybe making a wedge or plug from the material you cut off and hammering it in would work , and then seal any small leaks with flour paste as beerswimmer said

Don't bugger around, go and tig weld it closed. Just remember to purge the inside during the weld...….. or stick weld it closed with a SS rod.

Don't feel to bad, as it happens to the best of us..
I recall the second keg I cut off the rim on some years back.. I held the angle grinder blade at an angle slightly off to what it should of been.. it was only after I finished the cut that I realized I had cut into the keg itself with a few small holes here and there.. so I filled it in with solder.. learned a good lesson, as filling in the grove and holes was the part of good morning..
