New Way to Double Boil?

In my plans for a larger boiler and going all grain I would like to ferment/ distill on grain.

The huge problem although not a new one is scorching while distilling. This may be mad scientist or idiotic. But here is Plan A run two stills in one basically. While the water is distilling on one side, I'm distilling spirits on the other.

It's hard to see in the terrible sketch. But the idea is the open barrel and double boiler would be level. Water is self leveling so I could keep an eye out for running dry. The water would boil and turn to vapor, then condense back to liquid dropping into open barrel. The system would be open and shouldn't build pressure. If this has been done before I couldn't find it, which is a red flag. New boiler would be 30 gallons, outer boiler would be 4 to 5 inches larger in all directions. This would be all copper. Doable or stupid.. maybe dangerous?

I distill outside using propane, but I have an endless supply of wood if necessary. I'm not worried about time or efficiency, I'm just concerned with safety.

I don't know jack about a closed boiler system and would never to build one. If this isn't going to work then I may just strain the grain before.
