Just a quick hello from Scotland
Hello folks i live in Scotland UK and i am a Novice at Distilling, I currently have a pot still and have ran 3 sugar washes through it at this time
with half decent results. Have read so much and watched so much videos and with the help from a few people, one of which i bought the still from, they have given me the confidence to run a wash. To me there is nothing better than being part of a community where you can participate and be helped by others eventually leading to yourself being able to help others. Onwards and upwards as they say !!

Welcome to the forum Harley.
Be careful what Youtubers you follow. There are some right tossers out there preaching misinformation like it's gospel from above.
Cheers

Thanks NZChris, most of the videos i have been watching have been from Barley and Hops and by reading this forums i don't think they have a good rep..There is nothing like speaking to people that have been doing something for years !!

Do yourself a favor BH. The best advice I've heard George give is to check that what he says is correct. Please take that advice to heart and do it. It might not be obvious to you because you are new to the game, but to old hands it's quickly obvious that George hasn't taken his own advice.Black Hearts wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 12:17 pm Yeah man, George is awesome. Very convincing character and attitude though..Seems to know quiet a bit to be honest, but I prefer to read through 10 years of posts to pick out what I, and many others think is wrong or right..

And that's the problem. He's very convincing, but a lot of what he 'knows' he has made up himself, or gotten from other newbies on the net, without checking if it is correct, safe, easily usable, etc..Black Hearts wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 1:32 pm Very convincing character and attitude though..Seems to know quiet a bit to be honest, but I prefer to read through 10 years of posts to pick out what I, and many others think is wrong or right..

I like his teaching methods for sure though..very military and that's what I'm used to so I can relate, but it is also easy to fall into that trap of believing everything people say, because of the way they said/say it..

So because he sounds convincing you will listen to him and watch him.?.....even though he's wrong most of the time.
That doesnt seem very logical to me.
I can see you making a lot of mistakes in future.
