Hi stillers,
I want to make sure the needle valve I built into my Boka column is made of safe materials.
Its a 1/4 inch, Swagelok (Whitey) SS-1VS4 Manual Stainless Needle Valve. I got it new/surplus in the original sealed plastic packaging from an outfit called NRI Industrial Sales out of Delta, Ohio.
In the description (Link below), here is what it says about materials, and anything material related:
Body Material: 316 Stainless Steel
Max Temperature with Pressure Rating: 450°F @ 3435 PSIG /232°C @ 236 BAR
Lubricant: Perf. Polyether/Tung. Disulfide (WL7)
Packing: PFA [see further below about PFA]
Stem Tip Material: 316 Stainless Steel <== IS THIS THE IMPORTANT ITEM I AM LOOKING FOR?
Valve Material: Stainless Steel

PFA: here is what Wikipedia has to say: "Perfluoroalkoxy alkanes are fluoropolymers. They are copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene and perfluoroethers. The properties of these polymers are similar to those of polytetrafluoroethylene. Compared to PTFE, PFA have better anti-stick properties, higher chemical resistance on expense of a lesser scratch resistance."
This is the very first needle valve I have ever purchased, I hoped it was a good one.
