I enjoy threads like these. Experiencing music others like, I inevitably find something else to add to my play lists. My music tastes are pretty eclectic. Pretty much anything but rapp/hip hop and that EDM stuff my oldest daughter listens to. My youngest is 21 and listens to 50's and 60's music mostly. The kid is truley an old soul.

In the summer of '77 I attended the Pink Floyd show supporting their Animals album. It was in an outdoor stadium with quad speaker arrays and animal-shaped balloons floating above the stadium. Like the album jacket, there were temporary storm clouds that poured on us during pre-show. Fortuitously, a prepared fan sitting next to us broke out a giant plastic sheet so a couple dozen of us could continue with our pre-concert preparations. Once the clouds cleared out the show went off flawlessly and as the band played Dogs, Sheep, Pigs on The Wing, each corresponding balloon animal was detonated, resulting in a giant fireball. Great show, timeless music. I still have the ticket stub somewhere. I think it cost around $12.

I too could listen to Pink Floyd's albums for the rest of my days.

That song is more than 50 years old. It is famous. It just never occurred me that any adult American would not automatically know who the Righteous Brothers were. My bad; just call me stupid.

The Righteous Brothers and many other musician's careers were greatly assisted by the pioneering sound engineering work of Phil Spector. Unfortunately for Phil himself, he has been fermenting in a prison cell in Stockton, California since 2009.

I bought every LP produced by Pink Floyd during the 70's, starting with Ummagumma. Ummagumma(1969) was not one of their best albums but it was one where they did a lot of experimentation. There were no particular independent tracks on the album – just continuous music. On side 2 of the album there was a passage called “Careful With That Axe, Eugine”. The music builds up to a crescendo and then this woman starts screaming in terror. Pink Floyd would get my vote for being the most inspired and influential rock band of the last 60 years.

I listen to A LOT of music & I'll often be struck by a band or song, thinking about Spector's "Wall of Sound"

Like I said, I get tickled at all these young ones discovering great music.
And that definitely includes Floyd.
When you see mush brains hearing it for the first time, it reminds you of what it was like.
I especially start laughing when I see they are about to listen to "Great Gig".

When this guy did his first reaction to Floyd, he had a little less than a million subscribers.
A year later, he's well over 2,000,000. I don't know how that translates to dollars, but damn !

The GPS coordinates are the basic GPS coordinates of Washington State taken from the internet. If i put those into Google Earth, its a couple hours drive to there from my place. Id not be so foolish as to disclose my proper location on a public forum.
