I've got a batch of strawberries soaking right now to try it out! Has anyone tried it with Stevia instead of sugar?

Quick question, do you put sugar in jars from start. We did this as a kid for a sweet treat, ate the next day.

It's strawberry picking season! We went out this morning.
Starting a few jars of this up today. It's really easy to pick more than you know what to do with.

The weather has finally turned here in the Midwest and it has begun to feel like summer. That means SPD time!
My wife bought a bag of frozen mixed fruit for protein smoothies that has individual serving packs inside the big bag. Two individual packs fill up a mason jar nicely and make a great mixed berry dropper. It is a nice way to make a small batch quickly should you find yourself in need of a quick summer refreshment.

I've just put a litre of this down with a spirit I made by brewing and distilling cola. Should be nice!

I made a very small batch, 750ml, that I proof to 60 (30%abv). Got home from a long hot week and mixed myself a glass of it with lemonade at a 1:1 ratio. At 15% ABV, the "Strawberry Vodka Lemonade" taste very good and should get me to where I want to go pretty quick.

It does sneak up on you, but I kept an eye on it. I finished the 750ml, so I ended up making a 2 liter batch. I used a little less sugar this time and strained it through a jelly bag. It is super clear. I seem to like it a little better mixed. Lemonade and 7-Up (lemon-lime soda) seem to go well with it. I've tried ginger-beer but that was not great.pounsfos wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 2:16 ambe carefull, it goes down quicker than you know where it went on the nice days, sneaks up on ya to hahaWithOrWithoutU2 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 3:02 pm I made a very small batch, 750ml, that I proof to 60 (30%abv). Re: strawberry panty-dropper
Just got a batch of strawberry/rhubarb started. Going to start a batch of Kiwi next.
This thread is to long for it not to be great, if I can remember to shake it.
Hopefully after the first batch the girls will be over to shake it for me.

I just happened to have a bag or two of frozen strawberries in the freezer and I sure could use something to drop some parties. So I have a big jar sitting in the window sill right now

Re: strawberry panty-dropper
I just finished up batch of blueberry and strawberry panty dropper. All I can say is this stuff is amazing and and I will be trying it out on the wife this weekend. One thing that I did do was to make up a it's to make up a simple syrup to get the sweetness to where I wanted it. Also a big thanks to the member who made the labels and shared them with us.
Well on a side note I did some cherries a week ago as well they turned out awesome.

I like blueberry. I've done strawberry, blueberry, and mixed berries. The wife likes strawberry and jumbleberry(mixed berries).

Re: strawberry panty-dropper
My SPD is not quite finished, but last night I added a bit of strawberry infusion (40% commercial vodka) and fresh syrup to a dram of my white wheat whiskey (cask strength).
Tasted amazing... like a flaky strawberry pie.

Re: strawberry panty-dropper
Thanks for this. I've not made any, but the sugar on strawberry technique for pulling a flavoured syrup from the fruit is working a treat for our small strawberry patch. We don't get enough strawberries in one go for them to be useful for anything (sometimes there's just one) and the slugs were getting to eat more than we were, so I stuck a few in a jar with some sugar and each day when I pick a couple I stick them in the jar and top up the sugar if necessary. Every few days when the sugar is all dissolved, I strain the syrup into another jar, and add more sugar. I've been going for about 2 weeks now and I've got about 100ml of really tasty syrup in the fridge and the jar with the strawberries in just keeps on giving out good flavoured syrup.

I gave this a try. Pretty sure I followed the directions. I ended up with no alcohol content reading on my hygrometer. WTF happened?
Tastes great though. I started with 130 proof and used frozen strawberries.

Re: strawberry panty-dropper
Once mix strawberry juice, sugar, and the alcohol the hydrometer doesn’t measure accurately. This is because the sugars in rease the density of the liquid which is what a hydrometer measures.
