Motorized grain mill with box

Almost done with another project! A motorized Mo star Mill pro 2 which can do all grains including corn. Motorized with a geared motor with speed control. Along with a custom built cabinet to keep in the dust.

What type of mill are you using there? Looks like a roller setup, if yes, can it get things small enough for full conversion?

Nice, I have an MMII that I fit on a plywood top that sits atop a 5 gallon bucket. Your setup is fancier than mine.

Nice but ... is it a good idea to have the electronics for the speed control in the same enclosed space as the grain dust ?

Probably a good idea to seal it with some silicone so a spark doesn't come into contact with grain dust.

The speed control will be in the box along with the connection to the motor but the power cable will be outside the box. Any suggestions on the type of silicone to use?

Any outdoor rtv should work. If you get a small tube and seal the seams that should get rid of any danger. It's an enclosed box, so it's already minimal, but the rtv will seal it.

Monster mill pro 2. It can crush while kernel corn or mslted grains definitely small enough to convert.

This is my mill, I built it with parts I had so it's not "cool" but it works beautifully. I have few tools so I had to make do. A washing machine motor, chain drive, adjustable rollers.

Look , I wouldn't be too worried about floury explosions and stuff . Sure , it’s a thing .. but sparky spark spark spark got to be able to access all that powdered flour floating around /

Whats your call on that . ... can flour get inside your motor ...

Its your risk assessment .... at the end of the day .Your loss if it all turns to shit .

In my opinion , its low risk . .. thats just me .

I’d say building it yourself out of parts is cooler than buying it personally

Yes of course, even if it is very difficult when you don't have many vehicles / parts and special equipment. However, any construction is respectable and can help others in the construction. Good job!

Yes, I can also grind unmalted (harder) barley and corn if necessary, although the motors in the washing machine have little power and sometimes stall, but I engage reverse with a switch in the event of a seizure.

In my attempt to save money my cheap motor did not have enough torque to handle my mill (which I should have known) so I now have a very powerful motor coming from a home brew company that will be able to handle all I throw at it, including corn. Updates to come once it arrives and after I return from vacation.

It’s been A LONG time since I have updated this because of life getting in the way haha. I have finally completed my grain mill complete with a reversing drum switch which another member helped forgive out the wiring to.

Do you think it needs a chute between the bucket and the bottom of the mill to minimize flour loss, or a raised platform to bring the bucket closer to the bottom of the mill?

Edit to ask You said the MM2 will crush whole kernel corn from the feed store?

It will and does! I also may put a chute in.
