Hello. I have been interested in distillation for a long time and I've been lurking around on this site for a few years, off and on.
I've run out of excuses, and want to give it a shot (no pun intended.) I've gotten to the point where the SO is telling me, 'just buy a still already!' =)
I enjoy all styles of spirits... My intention is to ferment and distill just about anything; especially stuff I can source locally. I'm less concerned with quantity and more so with interesting. I'm looking to explore and experiment.
I am hovering over the trigger on a 4" flute still with a standard boiler... Trying to decide on the size. However, the long term goal is a bain marie.
I live in beer land, of which I am also a fan and brewer, in the PNW.
Looking forward to sticking around.
Have a great day!

Re: Hi there...
If I was starting from scratch I would definitely spend money on a bigger boiler with a nice triclamp lid, probably from milehi or brewhaus, buy the stainless tri clamp stuff for the column separately and build my own shotgun condenser(s).
I got an 8 gallon dual purpose package from mile hi and it's a great still, very happy with quality etc... but I'm definitely wishing I had a bigger boiler.

Re: Hi there...
Thank you for your input.. I've read many posts wishing they'd started off with bigger boilers. With that in mind, I am trying to decide between a 15 and 25 gallon can, but I'll save that dilemma for the equipment section. =)tombombadil wrote: ↑Sun Oct 18, 2020 9:39 am If I was starting from scratch I would definitely spend money on a bigger boiler with a nice triclamp lid, probably from milehi or brewhaus, buy the stainless tri clamp stuff for the column separately and build my own shotgun condenser(s).
