Second round of honey shine. Lots of bee butts in this batch!

Hoping to mix it with the last batch and try a third run to smooth it out.

I tossed a few tunas in a 45% neutral a few days ago, mixed in some inverted sugar and the result was a little surprising as far as taste. This was an experiment and now it a keeper. It don't taste half bad without the sugar either. That's 1/2 a gallon that evaded the reflux.

But yummy! Do you have prickly pear in your locale? I've seen them just about everywhere else in the world but never ventured that far south.

Two pounds of sardines per gallon of water, one pound of sugar, ferment for two weeks, distill and enjoy with a raw liver and whipped cream sandwich on rye.

A silk purse out of a sows ear. Our liquor cabinet had filed up with things left at our house from celebrations and things bought whiling drinking on vacation and ran them. I ended up with two quarts after cutting to 80 proof then let it steep with dried figs for a month and orange rinds for a week. The flavor is good the achol is a little rough. I trust in a few months it will be delicious

I think I'll make a coin purse from this little bastard. I can usually catch these little shits within a couple of days of first sign. I've been chasing this guy since july with three traps.

A few road flares is what I use here for the pocket gophers. If the smoke doesn't kill them(the goal), the smoke smell keeps them away.

Moles will seal off the tunnel from the smoke. BTDT. Traps are (usually) highly effective for me. Not sure why I was having such difficulty with this bugger. I was ready to spend the day/night in a lawn chair with a suppressed .22 pistol and wait for the ground to start moving.
SOH says no skinning the mole. Next time I wont ask.
I've caught over a dozen in this same trap, and my other two like it have each killed 3. I'd train the dogs to get them, but that's just more damage to repair in the yard. LOL
Ive tried flares, smoke bombs, hair, dog shit, gum, mint leaves, dried blood, coyote urine, and killing off the food source, (grubs) and nothing is as effective as a Victor Out of Sight mole and gopher trap.

One of the funniest videos on the interweb shows a fool filling a gopher run with oxy-acetyline and igniting it.

I made plans for the first run after deployment. Priced all the ingredients to order but think I am going to support the LHBS instead for only a couple bucks more. Wishing I was home running my still right now!

Interesting grain bill. Last week I put down a Maris Otter with 10% wheat. Hoping it turns out as I like Maris Otter. I brew a lot with Golden Promise too

Ran the spirit run on my last mash of single malt. Ground 46# more for a 3rd mash, and started building my new still.

Gin! :D .... definitely passed the martini taste test according to friends and family.

Along with Juniper, I added coriander, orange peel, lemon peel, orris root, and a bit of lavender. All vapour-infused. I aim to try a boiler infusion next.

Cheers,
