Disclosing of personal information at feed store.

Post by Simple Sam »

Notice at tsc
Notice at tsc
.

Good afternnon. Juat curious if any one has ran into this problem at the feed store buying grain or corn. I was asked for my personal information.

This is in ontario, canada.

I hesitated and didnt buy the corn because i was surprised by the question.

I took a picture of the notice.

Anyone else in ontario buy at a feed store? If not then where do you buy it?

I'm in Ontario too and was asked for basic personal info when buying crushed oyster shell from TSC. I asked why and was told because it was intended as a feed / supplement they needed the info should any recall or product issue arise so purchasers could be contacted. I'm not too paranoid so they got the info and I got my oyster shell.

Shop around.. some feed location do, some don't..

I've found two location which don't ask for info on one or two bags of feed here in the north..

Shop around.. some feed location do, some don't.. as the directive has been in place now for a few yrs..

I've found two location which don't ask for info on one or two bags of feed here in the north, especially if you state it's for deer feed if asked..

I'm in Australia and get my stuff from a brew shop. But reading that it says medicines. How is a sack of corn a medicine?

Pretty much the same thing you'll see anywhere you buy agri supply ultimately intended for human consumption; the stores really don't care, but they're obliged. I had the line from TSC my first time, I gave them plausible but generic information and paid cash.

Reality was that TSC corn was complete garbage anyways, mostly dust and cob chunks. I found local 'pet' supply store sells 55# sacks of cut corn to feed the deer, the quality is excellent and it makes a fine drop. Malts come from the homebrew supply store as their the only place selling such.

PM me if you want the store names.

I live in Alberta and had this same thing happen to me at peavy mart, I gave them my info and carried on. I don’t think it’s a big deal, I was confused at first at why they needed this info but I also wanted a bag of corn so I gave it to them, if you live in a bigger area just give a false address if you’re not comfortable.

I don't see an issue with buying grain just medicines from what is written on the notice. Meds foe animals are often very similar to what doctors use on humans and both are regulated by the government.
I don't drink alcohol, I drink distilled spirits.
Therefore I'm not a alcoholic, I'm spiritual.

This could be a very useful alerting mechanism if for instance a certain batch of feed corn were say for example to be found to be contaminated with high levels of pesticides. I’d like to know if i was feeding that to my yeasties.

Cheers!

If it is legal to brew beer there, you could just say it is for a homebrew experiment...

Hmm.... Never seen one of those notices nor been asked to disclose any of that info at the tractor, not 2 months ago when you I was buying feed molasses nor 2 years ago when buying a whole farm full of feed plus actual medicines, anthelmintics, vaccines injectable antibiotics, whole spiel, at different locations across fl,

I wonder if this is a regional legal obligation for some states but not others or just a corporate response to communities with people who like to use products off label and then complain (like raw milk people)

I think someone needs to point out to those asking for the information that corn or other grains are not medicine.
