I was gifted a couple dozen empty whisky bottles from a local distillery. These had been filled with hand sanitizer.
I'd like to use them for filling with m own stuff (after washing bottles of course).
Just wondering about the corks. Can I clean them, or am I going to have residual flavour or other crap getting into my whisky?
Or maybe just cut off a couple millimeters from bottom of cork?

Synthetic or natural?
Either way, not knowing what they added to the sanitizer, I'd just order new corks. Cheap insurance.

If made of natural cork they will be very porous so they absorb a lot. Not knowing what they absorbed I would change them if possible.
