Large copper bowl!
This has been advertised here for months. I am tempted but at $400 it’s a bit rich. The bowl is for making candy. 22 inches wide X 11 inches deep. Weighs in at almost 30 pounds! Solid copper.
Would make a very cool top for a still.

Cheaper to go and spin your own copper top

Copper bowls of that size for candy making are not exactly easy to find, hence the price.

Re: Large copper bowl!
$400 seems like a pretty premium price.. Nice bowl though
Re: Large copper bowl!
It might have been made in France at least 130 years ago, hence the high price. If the price wasn't so high, I'd be tempted to buy it to hang on the wall beside the strainer I use when making ricotta. There is no way I would pay that much, then cut it up. The top of an old copper hot water cylinder would be cheaper.

Agree with Chris.....its a damn nice bowl....deserves better than to be cut up. It needs to find a home with someone who will use it for its intended purpose.

Price is down to $300. It probably large enough to use as the pot! Wouldn’t need to cut it that way. Heat with gas.

In my metal rack, I've got both ends of a hot water cylinder that would both serve the same purpose, and they were given to me for free. The copper might not be as thick, but that can be dealt with with some supports.
I reckon you would be better off talking to a scrappy than to a antique dealer. At $300, without shipping costs to NZ, I'd be tempted to buy that for my kitchen.

I still say its vandalism to cut something like that up.....no matter how cheap it becomes.

Re: Large copper bowl!
why . You still need a lid for it . If initially you figured these would make a great lid for a boiler , Sounds like you’d need another one for a lid .Dancing4dan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 25, 2020 12:49 pm Price is down to $300. Seems an expensive boiler option to me
