I run mine down to about 45 to 50%, after that they're pretty funky. Once I start to see oils on the jars or they get cloudy, I usually collect one or two more to see if they clear up, then switch to a stockpot and raise the heat to strip the alcohol for feints collection and collect down to around 15 to 20.

Just wanted to make sure I was doing it right I've been collecting my strips in gallons and doing a string of jars on spirits only keeping the middle section of jars with a bit from a front jar and a bit from an end jar

Sometimes I just shut down and dump the pot at a certain abv but that's wasteful of my time and efforts

I collect down to about 10-15% at the spout. My combined heads and tails from a flavored spirit averages around 40% and gets aged on oak while I build up enough for a feints run with some added fresh wash.

It depends on what you're making too. I'm far less greedy when stripping and spirit running a TPW than when running grains.

What sort of still are we talking ? on a reflux still spirit run the abv could still be 94%-93%abv when tails show?

I collect all’s the tails. I mean I Go pretty deep into the tail end. And it all goes in a feints bucket. All the collected that doesn’t make the cut goes in the feints bucket. Heads tails whatever. And when I get enough in the bucket to make a run. It all gets run through for a neutral run. You would be surprised how much good alcohol is actually hiding in them thar tails.

I go down to 20-25% on a spirit run.
Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!
