Pretty sure hes trying to say to agitate the coolant mixture in the tank so that a temp gradient doesn't form from top to bottom in the container throwing the thermostat off?

Bit of a necro thread Larry?

In the end I abandoned the idea of a mid column condenser. Instead, I use cooling coil in the base of the column to get the gas temperature at the to that of the boiling point of the gas without condensing it (ie one distillation below the boiler). It is very successful in eliminating tails. I've started a new topic on it https://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtop ... 2#p7650322

Also, instead of trying to use a mixing chamber with cold water, I used a radiator with a controlled fan to cool recirculated water to the required temperature. It worked. This is an old photo before I isolated it from water input.
