A friend told me to check out Christmas Tree Shops for hinge-top/mason jars which are increasingly hard to find. While I was there, I found 4 Whiskey Dispensers on clearance. Regular price is $20 on their site, but these were marked down to $10 & also 50% off. Full disclosure: the spigot & bung it's threaded in to are plastic, but easily replaceable...
Thought this may be good for a mini solera set up.
I have one of those mini barrels. They are soft wood encasing a plastic container similar to the bag inside a wine box. They are decorative dispensers only.

Well that stinks... Complete waste of wood!!! Glad they were only $5. I will stop the "water conditioning" to expand the wood.
If nothing else, makes a neat bar-top gift, but will have to oak the product before it goes in.
FYI: this store doesn't ship, but if you have one nearby, you CAN find great deals on hinge-top jars (3 and/or 4L) which are useful.
There are two times of year: FOOTBALL SEASON and... Waiting For Football Season
I use those hinge top jars for coffee. They'd be convenient for liquor, but what would you replace the rubber gasket with? Anyone have a source of expanded PTFE gaskets or natural cork or something?
I use the hinge top jars and just wrap the gasket in plumbers tape. Works great , I wrap like three layers and it seems to work but I wouldn't trust them to be air tight. I don't use for long storage periods either, just for holding low wines until I do spirit run . Somewhere on here there is a link to purchase replacement ptfe gaskets .
